Amino Mantra Caramelised Garlic & Chives Katsu, Steamed Rice & Teriyak | Amino Mantra
Enjoy the subtle flavour of Caramelised Garlic & chives with a crunchy coating of quinoa flakes and Teriyaki sauce. Serve piping hot on steamed rice and side of fresh salad with a dollop of mayonnaise.

- We used Coco Aminos Teriyaki Sauce for the recipe as it is gluten-free and soy-free.
- We used Ceres Organics Vegan Mayonnaise for this recipe. Ingredients do not contain gluten or soy products.
- Quinoa flakes can be found in New Zealand at New World and speciality stores (e.g. Huckleberry, Ceres Organic Shops, Naturally Organics)
Method:
Before preparing the Katsu, start steaming the rice using your preferred method and make the Asian Slaw. Steamed rice takes around 15mins to cook.
Step 1: Prepare the Katsu
- Heat up oil in a pan for shallow frying
- Make the slurry with cornflour + water
- Dip the patties in the slurry until evenly coated
- Crumb the patties in the quinoa flakes on both sides
Step 2: Fry the katsu until golden brown on both sides
Step 3: Plate up by adding steamed rice, slaw, mayo, AM Caramelised Garlic & Chives Katsu and teriyaki sauce into the bowls. Use coriander and spring onion to garnish. Enjoy!
